A Quick Fix to Overwhelm

I’ve been there. Completely stuck in overwhelm.

I made a conscious decision to watch Netflix instead of journaling.

I got lost in scrolling Instagram instead of working my business.

Why do we do this?!

I believe it’s because we:

1. Don’t have a strong vision

OR

2. Our vision is too big.

My vision is so clear I can taste it. ✨

My vision is also a four-year plan. I’m not creating a vision for my retirement in a few decades, I’m thinking more short term.

If your vision is too big, you will be in a constant state of overwhelm thinking of all the to-do’s or in a negative headspace because you’re “not there yet.”

Too big of a vision will cause you to freeze.

There are 57 steps to the journey of that big-big picture vision, no wonder you’re overwhelmed.

The next four years are going to come, regardless of how much I hustle or rest, so why not create a balance of both.

Write out your shorter-term vision and get so clear on it that you can feel it, smell it, and see it as if it’s happened.

Try it: a 4-year vision.

I don’t show up right now, every single day, expecting to have the results that I’m going to get in four years, tomorrow.

I don’t show up, expecting to make the money that I’m gonna make in four years,  tomorrow.

I’m choosing to believe that what I want to create will happen with consistent action over the next four years.

There’s no rush.

Once you’ve got the vision, you’ve gotta bite size it.

If your 4-year vision is _______, what would you like to accomplish or have in the next year?

Then break it down more.

Monthly, what does that look like in action steps?

Weekly focus, what needs to get done?

And daily, how do you need to flow to create forward motion?

And you build your daily routine from there.

Lemme give you some examples:

𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹: lose 30 lbs by 2025 — 30 lbs right in this moment feels like a lot. If you get a month in and haven’t seen a weight loss, it’s easy to get discouraged because you’re not any closer to that 30 lb loss.

INSTEAD:

This Seasons Goal: Make it a goal to move your body for 30 mins/day - this could be walking the dog, a group fitness class, a home workout, etc. Create smaller steps and tiny shifts that will lead to that big outcome.

𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹: I want to launch a course for my business. There are 20+ steps needed to make this happen. It can cause us to freeze up and avoid.

INSTEAD:

This Seasons Goal: Take a look at the gaps in your day and commit to working on my course outline for one hour/day. Once that’s done, find step two and commit to continuing to move in that forward motion towards course completion.

𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹: $4M annual income. Alright, immediate overwhelm.

INSTEAD:

This Seasons Goal: I get clarity around my income producing activities & will set business hours with organized to-dos and intention to give myself a raise this year, while also preventing burnout and prioritizing rest. I will structure my day in a way that allows me to show up with energy and intention, knowing what I’m working towards.

𝘗𝘚: 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 $4𝘔 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦.

The truth is, we all have the time that we need to accomplish what we want to. Sometimes the vision isn’t clear enough.

I’ve got a $4M business to build and still…

I play.

I ride horses.

I snuggle my dogs.

I watch Netflix.

I create content for social media.

I write.

I brainstorm.

I get on one on one calls.

I send emails.

I make dinner.

Sometimes I go out to dinner.

I take yoga classes.

I move my body every day.

My point is that you have the ability to create the day you want; full of rest, full of play, full of intention. You have the ability to create a work/life balance.

When you show up in a flow that’s moving you towards your bigger picture, overwhelm and paralysis will disappear.

The things that need to get done are going to get done because you are taking a little bit more of an organized and intentional approach.

Think big, create that big picture vision… But take the time to dissect it, and figure out what your focus needs to be for the season that you were in.
