My First Substack Post

Today feels… exciting, yet heavy.

This is how I start most of my journaling entires so I think it’s how I’ll start as I write each of my Substack entries, cool?

Exciting because I love writing and this feels so aligned.
Heavy because…

I actually spent the morning volunteering at the Fairgrounds in Greeley, CO. It’s about an hour from where I live. I’ve been leaving the house around 5:50 am and it’s great because I’ve been catching the sunrise.

I used to be able to catch her rise when we lived in our old house, I had the perfect view of the pink skies when I woke up.

These days, I’ve been catching her as she fades behind the mountains, turning the smokey haze, pink. We’ve been battling some fires over the last couple of weeks here in Northern Colorado. With every sunset, I can’t help but think about all of the animals that have been displaced, unable to watch that same sunset from the comfort of the pasture they’re called home.
